Violent rapes are rampant in southeast Asia.  Victims are often abducted and gang-raped, sometimes killed. The women who survive are shamed by their communities, put through "purification rituals", and sometimes even forced to marry their attackers. Most victims are too afraid to say anything at all. It's estimated every 30 minutes, a woman is raped, and 1 in 3 of these women are under the age of 18.  

 

 

Our goal at Rise Against is to help women in these coutries do just that - rise against the brutality that they constantly face. We provide a safe haven for them to report their attacks and receive counseling, both psychological and legal. We work with village and community leaders to educate and change the mindset of traditional culture that often treats the victim as a criminal.
